Bill Clinton Says Assault Weapons Ban Must Be Reinstituted.

The ban went into effect during the former U.S. president’s first term, lasting from 1994 until 2004.

Efforts to reinstate it since the expiration have so far come up short in Washington, D.C.

I worked hard to pass and was proud to sign the ban on these weapons of war into law, and the results were clear: mass shooting fatalities declined while they were in effect and have risen sharply since they were allowed to lapse, Bill Clinton, via ‘Time’.

From 1999 to 2003, multiple studies show the ban was successful in reducing assault weapon-related crimes.

In his editorial piece, Clinton adds that the ban offers a middle ground for those who are both sides of the gun issue.

As the 1994 assault-weapons ban shows, deaths from mass shootings fell while the number of hunting licenses actually increased.

No one has to give up their culture to save the lives of innocent people, so many of them very young, Bill Clinton, via ‘Time’.

The piece for ‘Time’ comes days after mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas that left over 30 people dead.
